My current work focuses on curved lines. I begin my sketches with certain natural gestures which my hand wants to make. These tend to be organic and very loosely resemble the shapes of natural objects and life forms. I also use mathematical curves, which are also reflected in natural phenomena. The visual similarities that the gestural, mathematical, and natural forms hold to each other is of interest to me. I make a visual exploration of these forms through their repetition and interaction.

I usually work with oil pastel because of the versatility of the medium.  My current process begins with laying a smooth layer of color and then covering it with another layer of a darker color. I scrape and rub through the darker surface, while also adding new layers of color on top, in order to work in both an additive and subtractive manner.
